The article said this about the TOP 20 Logos:

A good logo design is…

Distinctive. Memorable. And timeless.
It is aesthetically pleasing.

It is scalable, looking good while as large as a billboard or as small as a dime. It looks good in color as well as black and white. And it is simple enough that it can be applied to a media spectrum as broad as paper to plastic and t-shirts to websites.

Most importantly, a good logo communicates the unique qualities of its brand.

Bill Streger, the Pastor of Kaleo Church in Houston, asked me if I could come up with a way to incorporate the word “CHURCH” into the Kaleo logo. I designed the first Kaleo logo, and it has been a favorite of mine for a long time, so updating it was difficult.

One thing that I never really liked about the previous Kaleo logo was how hard it was to place. Because of the odd shape, it was difficult to make work on certain media and at certain sizes. I wanted to create something that was easy to place, worked at almost any size and on any media.

With the new identity came a new color scheme for the church interior decor, church marketing pieces, the website and a host of other collateral. Basically it made my job A LOT more interesting.
